Grayson Farm
grows fine quality Orchard Grass hay. Their hay business began solely
to provide quality hay for their own horses and boarders when they
could not find suitable hay to buy. They were so successful that
a demand for their hay turned into a business. Good quality grass
hay is the best natural feed for horses if it is fertilized adequately,
cut at the proper time and cured properly. Grayson Farm has become
know locally for producing the finest grass hay in the area. They
have won first place at the Va State Fair every year entered. The
protein percentage has ranged from 16% to as high as 22%. This is
an unprecedented protein content usually found only in Alfalfa,
yet grass hay is preferable as it does not pose the problems and
nutritional imbalances found in Alfalfa. Customers frequently comment
that their horse gain weight on this hay and grain consumption is
decreased. When a horse can maintain his energy and nutritional
requirements on quality hay and consume less grain, then he will
have less colic and ulcer problems and better digestion. Hay prices
are set at $5.00 per bale if picked up at the barn. Delivery within
an hour radius of the farm is also provided for a fee.
